Has it really been that long? On May 1, 1986, the Steger International Polar Expedition went down in history for making the first confirmed dogsled journey to the North Pole, without being re-supplied along the way.

A 25th anniversary reunion, organized in conjunction with the Will Steger Foundation, will be held for team members, including Minnesotans Will Steger, Paul Schurke and Ann Bancroft.

A North Pole '86 Expedition Family Day will be held May 15 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul.

The 25th anniversary reunion is May 17, also at the History Center.
